People’s Deputy of Ukraine and Head of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee visited Lisova Zastava children’s camp near Kyiv on July 21. During her visit, Hanna Hopko talked to children from near-front towns. She also thanked camp coordinator Iryna Sazonova for her important work and expressed gratitude to Pope Francis for the financial support.
“It would be so nice to have more people like Iryna who turned a run-down and shabby place into a quiet heaven for children who are experiencing extremely hard times” People’s Deputy said in her statement. “We would like to thank the Vatican for the financial support and Pope Francis personally for helping children in Ukraine.”
Lisova Zastava children’s camp near Kyiv has existed for three years already. It is a place where children who have suffered from the war in the East of Ukraine have a rest and get psychological help. The first of four camp sessions started on July 06 with the support of Pope for Ukraine Initiative. During the sessions, 800 children aged 7-17 will be able to have a free of charge rest.
